Colin has had a career as a Production Animal Veterinarian for over 30 years. During this time Colin has worked closely with farmers, diagnostic laboratories and the pharmaceutical industry, not only in the UK, but also Ireland ,Europe , South Africa and New Zealand.

Part of the role of Veterinary Consultancy is to

  • develop and utilise new technologies
  • to refine and develop diagnostic techniques and then to pass on this experience and knowledge to veterinarians and livestock owners.

For livestock owners, Veterinary Consultancy can provide an independent second opinion; a fresh set of eyes for problem cases or outbreaks.

The service can be on a one-off basis , or ongoing.

Fields covered are;

  • Fertility
  • Lameness
  • Transition and Fresh Cow management
  • Young stock
  • Infectious Disease control ( i.e. Johnes,BVD,Lepto,IBR,Neospurum etc)
  • Milk Production
  • Efficiency analysis – pence per litre costs

The primary aims of any consultation are;

  • Maintain and improve farm viability
  • To develop farm specific protocols . This  allows producers to utilise their own capabilities and para professionals (foot trimmers , lay scanners) as much as possible
  • Develop management practices and protocols which improve animal health and are sustainable.
  • Antimicrobial reduction , particularly of the HP-CIAs as detailed in farm assurance schemes
